The BBC's technology correspondent, Rory Cellan-Jones, has done an interesting video report that tests early implementations of mobile
WiMAX and LTE
Mobile Broadband services. Both have the potential to be 4G (4th Generation) solutions for mobile operators.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7896686.stmThe video notes that mobile
WiMAX is already here, while LTE is still somewhat in development. However despite being around for quite awhile, mobile
WiMAX has yet to make any truly major inroads.
Meanwhile more and more mobile operators appear to be holding out for LTE, which allegedly provides an easier upgrade path for existing networks. One thing is for sure,
Mobile Broadband is only going to get faster.
