North Midland Construction (NMC), the main contractor employed on the
Fibrespeed project by Geo and who is currently working to resolve the alleged non-payment of sub-contractors within the supply chain, recently held a meeting with those involved.
The aim of the meeting was to determine how much is owed by NMC's sub contractors to other parties in the supply chain and how the dispute can be resolved. It looks like some progress has now been made, though no specific details have been revealed:
Following the meeting it was agreed that we will work with our supply chain and their sub contractors in order to settle the dispute as quickly and amicably as possible, said Martin Queally, managing director of the utilities division of NMC plc.
The sub-contractors originally alleged that a Manchester-based firm known as United Formwork had not paid them for their work, with some waiting upon payments worth in the region of up to £250,000.
The £30m FibreSpeed project is designed to link the UK's broadband infrastructure with Welsh businesses in Caernarfon and Wrexham.
