Virgin Media's CEO, Neil Berkett, has told the Goldman Sachs Communacopia conference in New York that his ISP "
will not" cut-off broadband customers found to have been involved in online piracy:
Neil Berkett said: "
There is no regulatory or legal framework for us to say to a customer we are turning you off, and therefore we will not."

paidContentBerkett also reiterated earlier remarks, saying that it was the responsibility of the rights holder to deal with such things and that the financial impact would be "
negligible". However he did acknowledge that VM had an interest in music rights too.
Virgin Media recently became one of the largest UK ISPs to sign-up with a voluntary anti-P2P piracy agreement, which requires the providers to warn customers when they've downloaded something illegal. Punishment for persistent offenders remains an on-going debate.
