Thanks to one of our readers for pointing out that
Virgin Media appears to have quietly introduced a new '
16Mbps Broadband Boost' upgrade service to its existing ADSL (Virgin.net) based 8Mbps broadband products.
Until 6th January 2009 all new ADSL broadband customers will be offered the 16Mbps upgrade free for the first three months of service, after which it will be charged at an additional £5 per month. The offer is also open to existing customers taking the upgrade for the first time.
Virgin Media's ADSL based Virgin.net broadband services are typically offered in areas where the operators faster cable coverage has yet to reach. Each package is subject to a 12 month minimum contract and one-off £30 connection fee. Prices start from £6 per month, depending on the bundle.
