The days of
Mobile Broadband subscribers receiving huge bills because they continued their Internet downloads while abroad could soon be gone. The European Commission (EC) has proposed a series of measures aimed at stemming the tide of "
bill shocks":
"Using your mobile phone abroad in the EU should not cost unjustifiably more than at home, whether for making calls, sending texts or surfing the web," said telecoms commissioner Viviane Reding in a speech on Tuesday.
The measures include issuing customers with an automatic message informing them of the charges for their present location (country). From summer 2010 mobile operators would also be required to allow customers to specify in advance how high their data-roaming bill could go before the service is cut off. More @
