Joost, a free online broadband TV (IPTV) service setup by the founders of Skype (Voice-over-IP), has hinted at its intention to abandon their P2P (File Sharing) desktop client in favour of a website based solution. This would put them in the same league as YouTube and the BBC's Flash based iPlayer service.
Little is known about what the new service will look like, although visitors will be required to install a small browser plug-in to view the content.
NewTeeVee has managed to bag a sneak peak of the new Joost site, which is currently private:
The popularity of P2P based Internet TV services has certainly received a mix reception, with web based alternatives often proving to be more popular due to their direct accessibility and limited strain upon ISP networks.
