Search giant Google has given its support to Project Kangaroo (SeeSaw), a joint broadband Internet TV (IPTV) service between the BBC, ITV and Channel 4. Sadly the project is currently being held up by a troublesome Competition Commission (CC) investigation (
news), which Google appears keen to help defuse.
The Times article quoted Google as telling the CC that it
does not expect this joint-venture [Kangaroo] to have any negative impact on competition or customers, which it views as already being a very competitive market. It hoped that Kangaroo
would be willing to partner with us, without spelling out details.
In related news ITV has decided to increase investment in made-for-broadband content after the success of its first three-minute football webisodes, '
The Gloryhunter'. The mini online episodes were viewed more than 10,000 times in the first 20 days.
