Ofcom has given its support to both the
Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) Awareness Day and Get Online Day, both of which seem to be occurring, yes you guessed it.. today. Events for the latter are being held at UK online centres across England and last year more than 10,000 people used the day as a chance to give the Internet a try.
The aim of Get Online Day is to offer people who have never used the Internet the chance to take their first steps online. For more information or to find your nearest Get online day event call 0800 77 1234 or visit the Get online day website -
http://www.getonlineday.com .
As for IWF Awareness Day, it's aim is to highlight the IWF Hotline on their website so people are in no doubt about where they need to go to report offensive online content. The IWF itself works with ISPs and law enforcement agencies to tackle images of child abuse worldwide.
