BT has this morning published its latest third quarter financial results to 31st December 2007, highlighting a growth in retail broadband subscriptions from 4,074,000 last quarter to 4,251,000. The quarter also saw BT Vision's customer base, which is a broadband IPTV (Internet TV) service, grow to more than 150,000:
BT had 12.2 million wholesale broadband connections (DSL and
LLU) at December 31, 2007, including 3.7 million local loop unbundled lines. This represents an increase of 2.2 million wholesale broadband connections year on year. There were 511,000 connections in the third quarter with BTs retail share of those net additions at 177,000, being 35 per cent. BT Retail remains the UKs number one retail broadband provider and its total broadband customer base was 4,251,000 at December 31, 2007.
The results included some brief reminders about forthcoming 21CN developments, such as the impending introduction of BT's ADSL2+ (up to 24Mbps) services in the spring. BT also plans to deliver carrier class Next Generation Ethernet services to Communication Providers (CPs) in February 2008.
