The Carphone Warehouse (TalkTalk) has released its latest '
Interim Management Statement' for the fourth quarter of 2007, which saw the addition of 118,000 new broadband clients, raising the total to 2,604,000. Roughly 61% (1.6m) of those subscribers were on the group's unbundled (
LLU) lines.
Carphone currently has 1,533 unbundled exchanges via TalkTalk and 924 via AOL UK. The provider has also managed to transfer 221,000 of its BT based ADSL customers over to their unbundled network during the same quarter:
Total UK Fixed Line revenues were up 36% to £349m. Residential revenues rose 57% to £273m. Our broadband business continued to demonstrate very good momentum, with 118,000 net adds in the quarter, taking the total broadband base to over 2.6m. We now expect total net adds in the second half to be towards the upper end of the 200-250,000 range indicated in October 2007. Despite significant numbers of TalkTalk customers coming out of their initial 18 month contract period, we saw no increase in churn levels. Blended broadband ARPU was stable at £22.1.
It's pleasing to see that TalkTalk has managed to hold onto its customers, despite initial contracts coming to an end. Whether this suggests satisfaction more with the price than the service is another matter. Meanwhile Carphone is sticking to its positive outlook and will formally announce more detailed figures for Q4 come 14th April 2008.
