We've just uploaded a new doubled barrelled monthly survey, which asks two questions: "
Do you think there is demand for up to 20Mbps+ broadband services?" and "
Do you plan to upgrade your package to an up to 20Mbps+ option when it becomes available?". Results from the previous months survey can be found below:
Roughly, how much data (GigaBytes) do you consume per month?
Over 40GB+ - 32.8%
1 to 5GB's - 18.5%
20 to 40GB's - 14%
5 to 10GB's - 11.8%
10 to 20GB's - 9.8%
Don't Know - 9.8%
Up to 1GB - 2.9%
Total Votes: 1485
The interesting thing is that we've run this survey before, back in August 2006 -
Results. There are some curious, if smaller than expected, differences between the two sets of results. For example, the percentage of those downloading over 40 GigaBytes (GB) per month has increased from 29% in 2006 to 32.8% now (+3.8%).
Meanwhile other figures, such as those downloading between 1 and 5GB, has remained virtually identical. However, that is to be expected given that average consumption reported by most ISPs tends to hover between the 2 to 4GB region. Broadly speaking though, the results, at least for our readers, havent changed much. Usage has increased, but only by less than a handful of points.
