The latest statistics from Ofcom's quarterly 'Communications Market Update' to 30th September 2004 show that UK broadband penetration has overtaken Germany! Total broadband subscribers now stand at over 5.3m:
By the end of June 2004 the UK had 7.5 connections per hundred population compared to 6.1 in Spain, 6.3 in Italy, 6.4 in Portugal, 6.7 in Germany, 8.3 in France, 12.1 in Sweden, 15.8 in the Netherlands and 15.6 in Denmark.
The total number of broadband subscribers in the UK passed the five million mark, reaching 5.3 million by the end of September 2004.
