V21's Telefónica ADSL Migration Deal

Posted: 13th Sep, 2004 By: MarkJ
UK ISP V Two One (V21) has announced the signing of a mass wholesale broadband migration deal, which will see thousands of its ADSL customers moved onto Telefónica's xDSL platform and away from BT:

V Two One, one of the UK's Top 50 ISPs, has signed a contract with Telefónica UK that will see the migration of thousands of its broadband customers to Telefónica UK's DSL platform. This is the first deal of its kind, since mass migrations became possible. This new technology demonstrates a tide of change in the industry, with Telefónica UK working with BT for the benefit of ISP customers. As a result of this agreement, V Two One are able to launch the cheapest uncapped high speed broadband connection in the UK, costing just £16.99 per month, including reduced connection fees and a no monthly ties option.

V Two One's strategic development plan is to continually look for new ways to provide its customers, both business and residential, with the highest quality internet connection at the best possible price. V Two One believes Telefónica UK's wholesale broadband service provides the best value for money, whilst retaining an extremely high level of service and product quality, compared to that offered by other providers. This agreement will also provide V Two One with the capability to increase its range of packages and allow it to compete with other ISPs.

"At V Two One, we value our customers' experiences of our service above all else. The decision to migrate from BT to Telefónica UK was made easier by the knowledge that we would be servicing our customers with the highest quality internet connection at the best possible prices," said Steve Kaye, managing director, V Two One. "In addition to our low prices, we are pleased to be offering all of our services without restrictions."

Andrew Peters, CEO, Telefonica UK, added "We are proud to announce that we are the first to facilitate a mass migration of this kind and look forward to helping many more ISPs achieve business benefits from migration."

The wholesale broadband service supplied over Telefónica UK's DSL platform provides several advantages for ISPs over alternatives including a reduction in costs, increased operating margins and scope for a richer product portfolio.

Hopefully the move will result in even better services, although customers will be more interested in knowing when the migration will occur and whether or not their service will be affected.
