The former boss of ISP Liberty Surf UK (purchased by Tiscali in 2001), Paul Myers, is taking legal action to recover £67,500. The money was owed to him by his previous employer and should have been settled with the takeover:
"I just want what's owed to me," said Myers. "They tried to close down a company before settling all their debts, which was wrong."
He alleges that his fight to secure the cash has also been obstructed by Tiscali, which, he claims, even denied that he had worked for the company.
In August 2002, Tiscali, decided to close Liberty Surf UK Limited as part of a restructuring operation. While the company - which had assets of more than £2.9m - paid his salary, he says he did not receive an annual bonus promised to him.The liquidator has rejected Myers' claim and Tiscali has stated that they are awaiting a court date, but would say no more.
