UK charity Age Concern has reported that a third of Internet users over the age of 50, so called 'Silver' surfers, feel that the Internet has given them a new lease of life:
Two-fifths of silver surfers confess they log on every day, with emailing and socialising the main interest for 68 per cent. Older people are also more likely to be downloading software, music and games than doing their food shopping.
Age Concern's survey coincides with the launch of its second annual Silver Surfers Festival, aimed at helping even more older people get online. Last year, over 70 Age Concerns helped 5,000 people log-on for the first time.More @
