THUS (Demon Internet) has announced the introduction of a new hi-speed Internet access over Ethernet service that delivers a permanent, unmetered, 10Mbps connection to the Internet over THUS's MPLS IP network:
The service has been designed for businesses that need higher bandwidth Internet access and provides a stepping stone to fill the gap between basic DSL services and premium Ethernet delivery.
THUS's new contended High Speed Internet over Ethernet service has been designed to help companies maintain the performance of their websites in the face of increasing volumes of traffic and provides high speed corporate Internet access, allows faster access to corporate applications by remote users, and also provides a quality platform for Internet applications such as web servers, e-commerce applications and security systems.
As requirements grow customers using High Speed Internet Access over Ethernet can easily upgrade to an uncontended Ethernet service to increase bandwidth at short notice. This flexibility means companies only pay for the service they actually require, keeping costs down.
"Recent research has shown that medium sized companies are increasingly developing their online presence and are seeing the rewards of this investment," said Nigel Stevens, product director, THUS plc. "The focus on e-commerce is leading to increased demand for high speed Internet services. Contended broadband over Ethernet is a great fit for companies looking for high speed Internet access that is faster than leased lines and ADSL, but who do not have the requirement for an uncontended Ethernet connection."
The product is targeted towards medium sized businesses and is offered on a "low" contention.
