Telewest has officially confirmed its intention to change e-mail platforms and that the work is expected to start during midday next Tuesday (20th May). Unfortunately this is expected to result in some service disruption:
Telewest told The Register that next week's planned platform migration has nothing to do with the recent spam attacks.
In an email to punters the cableco warned: "You will be able to send and receive emails, but from midnight on 20 May (Tuesday night) you may not be able to see old messages, however you will see them again before we finish."
Telewest also warned that from midnight on 20 May dial-up customers won't be able to hook up to the Net for a short time.Hopefully the work will finally put an end to the turmoil that has hampered Telewests e-mail servers, which are expected to be down until roughly 8pm on Wednesday.
