BT has announced the introduction of a new 24-hour home security system called '
BT Home Monitoring'. The system can connect to the Internet via an ADSL line and keep you updated with the status of your residence:
It uses wireless sensors to detect changes in the status of your home and can alert you of any disturbance by phone, text message or email.
Smoke detectors can also be added to the system to give early warning of the threat of fire and using the internet monitoring service, the system can tell you if any routine events have occurred, such as a child arriving safely home from school.
Gas leak and flood detectors will be added to the system later in the year, along with a web-cam.The
Web-User item reports that BTs new service will set you back £299.99 for the kit and 12 months monitoring (thereafter £5 per month).
