Activeware has chosen to capitalise on its recent service upgrades by introducing a new unmetered dialup package. Costing just £15 per year the service allows 5 hours unmetered access per month:
A SCOTS internet firm claims industry giants are "ripping off" weekend web surfers.
Now Ayr-based Activeware Internet is offering a revolutionary five-hours-a-month package for a single annual fee of £15.
Activeware say that their ActiveFreetime deal - open to the first 2000 customers - gives five free hours internet access every month with no subscription fee and no telephone charges. And they claim that occasional users on pay-as-you-go packages with other major internet service providers are paying "over the top" prices.
Activeware spokesman Michael Gordon said: "Thousands of people don't realise how much they are paying, even when they only use the internet occasionally. Pay-as-you-go customers using the internet one hour per weekend at off-peak rates of 1p per minute are currently paying £2.40 per month, rolling up to over £30 per year. If they use a pay-as-you-go ISP at peak-rate that's over £120 per year!
With ActiveFreetime customers can both save on their existing phone bill and enjoy all the benefits of having internet access with Activeware Internet, including freephone dial-up, unlimited email accounts, webmail and free technical and installation support, all at a fraction of the cost. And we can have them on line within five minutes of calling.
If our customers exceed the five hours per month then they will pay just 1p per minute on the additional time, regardless of when they connect. That's only 25 percent of BT's peak rate."
Details of the package are on the company's website at http://www.activeware.co.uk or by telephoning 08002792696.5 * 12 = 60 Hours per year, which is somewhat less than the bare minimum of 150hr offered by other ISPs. Whether or not the 1 pence per minute addition makes up for this is harder to say, although it's still a unique package.
