BTs Emergency ADSL Recovery Units

Posted: 13th Jun, 2003 By: MarkJ
ADSLGuide reports that BT has begun installing specialised recovery units, which in case of problems at a local exchange, should ensure the continuation of ADSL and other services:

Each unit will provide the ability to support 2000 ADSL lines, 1000 TPON lines as well other crucial network elements. The deployment of this system means that in the worst case of a fire which destroys an exchange, business critical services can be running again in the minimum of time.

No doubt this will be music to the ears of both business and residential users alike.
