The Mobile Data Association (MDA) has reported that the total number of WAP (mini-websites for mobile phones) page impressions (PI) has grown by a further 13%:
UK mobile internet PI figures from GSM Network operators O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone totalled 635m in April, taking the daily average to 21m. This almost doubles the figure of 11m per day for September 2002, when the MDA began issuing WAP statistics.
Aprils total shows that mobile-phone users are using their handsets for a wider variety of purposes than ever before. Mobile internet services continue to increase in popularity and are a part of the growing range of messaging services available to the end-user. The most popular WAP sites viewed continue to be those offering ringtones and screensavers, although there is an increasing percentage of PIs now coming from sports and news sites.More @
