BT Business Broadband Office Portal can now access an interactive online information service for small businesses - 'Business Admin Pack':
BT OPENWORLD AIMS TO SLASH RED TAPE FOR SMALL BUSINESSES WITH NEW ONLINE SERVICE
This resource will offer SMEs information and guidance on legal, personnel and regulatory matters, as well as tips on how to run their business better. It will provide downloadable templates and sample letters for small businesses to use, as well as factsheets on issues they face. The portal will also outline scenarios that can be used by way of pre-empting problems caused with non-compliance - for instance, what happens if a company fails to pay VAT on time, or misuses customer data.
The content will be provided by LexisNexis, the legal, accountancy and business information provider. The information made available through the portal will be updated on a daily and weekly basis, as new legislation and guidance becomes available. Cobweb Information, the specialist small business information publisher, will be ensuring that the material is SME friendly and easily digestible.
Topics covered on the portal will include company law, health and safety, taxation, employment law, intellectual property, and consumer and trading law.
BT Openworld has been providing a simplified version of this product for free on its business information portal for several months. Research indicated that this was the most useful and widely visited section of the site, so BT has recruited its content providers to expand the services and breadth of the offering. This research was backed up by a recent NOP survey, which indicated that 69 per cent of small businesses would value a single source for online business tools.
The new Business Admin Pack will have numerous features that were not available before. For example, the service can now be interactively searched, rather than just browsed, making it easier to find relevant information. There will also be a much greater selection of material than was available on the "free" service, such as Quick View factsheets, check lists and FAQs, and information will be pushed and pulled to the customer whenever relevant.
The Business Admin Pack is accessed through the BT Business Broadband Office portal. It will cost £6.99 per month, subject to an initial twelve-month contract, and a BT Openworld Broadband or Narrowband connection.
