Scottish optical fibre company,
Fibrelink, has teamed up with 'Scottish Water' to trial the use of broadband cables through existing sewer networks:
The pilot, which will be conducted in conjunction with Scottish Water, will begin at the end of this week when the first cables are laid under Rosyth, Fife in Scotland.
The initial project has been in development with Scottish Water for more than 15 months with Fibrelink already having invested £200,000 in the initiative.
The pilot will use Fibrelink's Sewer Cable System, which has been in developed in partnership with Swiss fibre company Brugg. We're fairly confident that a UK company / ISP has already done (over a year ago) something similar in London, although the name escapes us. More @
