Telewest has followed BT's BASIC package by announcing a new cut-price (£17.99 per month) product of their own. The service runs at 256Kbps, has a 12 month contract and limits data consumption to 750mb per DAY (note: not WEEK or MONTH).
On top of that you also get a free installation and one months free access, but only if you're among the first 5,000 subscribers. Despite that the offer remains sound and, by comparison to BTs 1Gb per month limit, 750mb per day is ideal.
It's no coincidence that BT and
Telewest, both the strongest of rivals, have timed a launch of two such similarly targeted services for the same day. One wonders how
Telewest knew of BTs plans or vica versa.
