Bulldog Launches Unique Entry-Level Time-of-Day Service For Residential Customers
London, UK - Bulldog Communications, winner of the ISPA Best Consumer Broadband Service Award 2004, today announced the introduction of its PrimeTime 500 service for residential customers. PrimeTime 500 offers a unique time-of-day feature, providing downstream speeds up to 512 kbps during peak times and 256 kbps during off-peak hours, with up to 256 kbps upstream speed all day, every day.
Bulldogs PrimeTime provides residential customers with the highest speeds when they need them, i.e., evenings (6pm-8am), all weekend and Public Holidays. During weekdays (8am 6pm) customers still enjoy broadband with up to 256 kbps downstream speeds.
With an introductory price of only £17.99 (inc VAT) for a limited time only, Bulldogs PrimeTime addresses the needs of budget conscious dial-up users that want to upgrade to and enjoy the broadband experience but are unwilling to pay a £20+ monthly fee. Customers can get up to 10x faster speeds than standard dial-up, enabling fast access to, and downloading of, information, an always-on Internet connection, and the ability to use the phone line at the same time as surfing the Internet.
As PrimeTime 500 is designed to attract entry-level or light users, there will be a 2 GB limit for the amount each user can download within one month, which should be more than sufficient for their needs, and is twice the amount offered with the BT Basic Broadband service. Where customers are close to the download limit, Bulldog will issue an email advising them, with the recommendation to either moderate their usage (so as to avoid a £5 fee should they exceed the monthly limit), or to upgrade to a higher bandwidth service.
Richard Greco, CEO of Bulldog, said, "Bulldog remains committed to pushing back the barriers in the consumer broadband market to the benefit of its customers, as was recognised recently at the ISPA Awards.
Richard continued: Because we manage our own broadband network, we have the ability to design, develop and deliver unique and high-value services and features, such as the 'time-of-day' feature, giving customers the broadband service they want, when they want it.
Bulldog is introducing the PrimeTime 500 service to new customers with the option of a FREE modem or one month line rental FREE (13th month). A standard connection fee of £58.75 and an annual contract applies.
The service is available, subject to survey, across London, the South East and major city centres including Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and Cambridge, potentially reaching some 6.8 million homes.Once again
Bulldog has managed to introduce an innovative service, although the limited coverage and contract length may prove a hindrance.
It also appears to be another package designed to coincide with the launch of rival budget services from
Telewest and BT.
