ONE IN THREE UK ADULTS ARE ONLINE-SAVVY CONSUMERS
Nearly one in three UK adults, 13.8 million of us, have become online-savvy and are using the Internet to carry out transactions such as buying airline tickets, banking, downloading music, and buying/selling at auction websites, according to Continental Researchs Spring 2004 Internet Report*.
Colin Shaddick, director at Continental Research, said: Differences do occur amongst the demographic groups transacting in different sectors online. Most activities have a male bias, apart from supermarket shopping and instant messaging, where women lead the way.
When the demographic profile of the online consumer is examined it can be seen they represent one of the most sought-after consumer groups (i.e. young and upmarket).
