UK ISP MetroNet has made a number of price cuts and expanded its range of pay-as-you-go (payg) broadband ADSL packages with a new 2Mbps option for £19.75 inc VAT per month - PayGo2000:
MetroNet lowers ADSL costs and intros new 2Mbps services
MetroNet, the originator of pay-as-you-go Broadband in the UK, is pleased to announce substantial price reductions across our range of ADSL packages and two new 2Mbps ADSL packages.
Since introducing pay-as-you-go Broadband services in May 2003 we have woken up the ADSL marketplace. But while some providers have now started to introduce their own versions they have been slow to offer truly innovative packages. We remain the only ADSL service to offer a 512kbps service starting at just £11.75 inc. vat per month, which is not time limited or a confined to a promotion, including a per Mb pricing structure with a capped monthly cost.
Additionally customers don't have to pre-purchase blocks of data usage but simply pay for what they use and are charged in arrears.
As well as reducing prices across our range of current products we are delighted to introduce two new 2Mbps services starting at just £19.75 inc.vat per month. By making it inexpensive to have up to 2Mbps ADSL service constantly on tap we believe customers get better flexibility knowing its there when they need it and yet still pay less than some other providers are charging for 512Kbps Broadband.
We concur with many of our customers who feel some providers are taking a backward step in offering cheap ADSL access at 256Kbps or less. At MetroNet 512Kbps is the lowest speed on offer and with our price reductions and new
higher speed options we have chosen to listen to our customers to make faster ADSL even more affordable - speed after all is what Broadband is all about and increasingly important as more people start to use their connections for voice as well as data.
A detailed breakdown of our new prices and packages can be found at: http://metronet.co.uk/adsl/paygoWe can't help but feel that MetroNet is one of the few PAYG offering broadband providers that gets it right.
The inclusion of a realistic upper limit price, after which the service becomes unmetered, is something that more ISP's should adopt.
It encourages uptake of much faster services at an affordable price point, while allowing flexibility for those that want to go further. The £36.75 max price for a 2Mbps offer is good.
