UPDATE: Vispa has also reported getting the mail and they were never part of Affinity; we're told that legal action is being considered. Firenet isn't the only provider to have a rival ISP mass e-mail its customer base (READ), today SurfAnyTime's Derek Lewis has reported receiving "the exact same email".

The problem may be a hang over from when both ISP's were part of the Affinity group, which later closed and sold its customer base to a third party. Some readers may remember the problems caused by this.

Clearly those involved never destroyed the confidential customer contact details and the mail offers no option to 'unsubscribe' (SPAM). We would suggest that anybody receiving said mail report it to Ofcom and Trading Standards, otherwise they may continue to try contacting you in the future.
