Easynet is to cut the cost of its 2 and 4Mbps leased line services by roughly 50%, with further falls expected:
Easynet is to offer 2Mbps and 4Mbps services under its new SureStream brand from less than £500 per month rental, and analysts expect prices to fall further. The ISP can offer lines through the 80 metropolitan exchanges where it has installed equipment as part of the much maligned local loop unbundling process.
The services are available now in London and from April in the ISP's other UK exchanges. The 2Mbps line is priced at £5,775 per annum plus £1,995 installation fee, while the 4Mbps line is charged at £9,495 per annum with a £3,995 fee upfront.
Both deals include engineer installation, a 99.9 per cent service guarantee and Cisco 2600 routers. It wasn't all that long ago that £6,000 per year would get you a leased 64Kbps ISDN line, how things have changed. More @
