UK ISP BTOpenworld Suffers Blackout

Posted: 13th Mar, 2003 By: MarkJ
It's been confirmed that BTOpenworld suffered a major service blackout on Monday, which resulted in up to 300,000 customers being disconnected:

The exact details are not known but BT's ISP has described the incident as a "serious electrical fault" that knocked out part of its service for three hours on Monday afternoon.

Normal service to BT Openworld's two million punters wasn't resumed until almost nine o'clock in the evening.

Thankfully all is well again now, although it's certainly not the first time we've had to report on problems with the ISP. More @ The Register.
