Scream if you want to go faster!
Telewest Broadband trials UK's fastest, unlimited home internet service
Telewest Broadband is to launch a trial 2Mb blueyonder broadband internet service this week, offering supercharged web access in the home, 24 hours a day, seven days per week.
The pilot service offers a continuous cable connection to the internet, 40 times faster than traditional dial-up services and four times more powerful than BT Broadband.
The additional bandwidth will enable home internet users to experience a business-class web connection, with blistering downloads for music, films and software, an ability to effortlessly share large files and potential for near-TV quality video pictures.
Gavin Patterson, managing director of Telewest Broadband, said: "We've already proven there's a need for speed, with ten per cent of our blueyonder internet customers taking the 1Mb service. Now it's time to shift up another gear, offering our customers the option of going even faster with the natural bandwidth benefits of a cable connection.
Not every internet user will want a 2Mb connection, but we're now well on the way to offering a menu of broadband services to suit different requirements, while BT perseveres with its one trick pony."
Telewest Broadband customers already taking the 1Mb blueyonder service will be offered the opportunity to double their bandwidth at no extra cost, by applying to join the 2Mb trial at http://fastest.blueyonder.co.uk, launching this week.
Feedback from 1,500 triallists will be used to shape the new service prior to a full national launch later this year.Typically pricing and further details have yet to be announced.
