The managing director of UK ISP
BTOpenworld, Duncan Ingram, has kindly sent us his own personal comment on the Advertising Standards Authoritys new junk e-mail (SPAM) guidelines:
BT Openworld fully supports any initiative to cut down on spam, as it understands the irritation and intrusiveness it causes. It's a sign of the times that the code of advertising practice now includes text and email advertising - and demonstrates the strength of feeling against unnecessary junk messages.
ISPs and mobile phone operators themselves still have a very clear responsibility to protect their customers from spam, so we'll continue to do everything we can to keep it to a minimum. BT Openworld offers an email protection service through its partnership with Brightmail, which offers a free anti-spam and anti-virus protection service to its customers.
