Surrey Satellite Technology (SST) and Avanti Communications have been awarded £100,000 by the British National Space Centre to examine the provision of broadband satellite services:
The study will focus on the provision of cost-effective broadband internet services by satellite for rural areas and developing countries, examining both the ground and space segment aspects, together with the deployment, operations and predicted market uptake. One of satellite's fatal flaws has often been its price vs flexibility, with many cheaper one-way ISPs having already disappeared from view.
