UK ISP MAKES £1m INVESTMENT TO ITS NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE AND NEW DATACENTRE
One of the longest established business only Internet Service Providers has today announced an investment of £1m cash in its network infrastructure. Amongst other things, the investment will mean a five-fold increase in ADSL bandwidth and a new datacentre four times the size of the existing facility.
Significant Advancements To Network Infrastructure
Through its new network infrastructure, altoHiway, which already connects over 45,000 UK business people to the Internet and described as one of the industrys best kept secrets, will provide its business customers with world class network resilience due to the exceptionally high performance and scaleable structural design.
To increase capacity and security, altoHiway is utilising additional multiple connections to ensure no single point of failure exist, along with physical resilience including dual ducting and connections to multiple exchanges.
This scalability provides initially a five-fold increase in ADSL bandwidth alone and opens up further opportunities for additional business-focused solutions, such as MPLS allowing more cost effective VPN connectivity for businesses and remote workers.
Richard Sharpe, managing director at altoHiway, comments: Todays announcement concerning our £1m investment demonstrates altoHiways dedication to providing its customers with a first-class business Internet service. We have responded to the explosive growth in demand from the market and are laying the foundations for the way forward. We have never lost our focus on the business customer and their requirements since our inception nine years ago. This cant be said for all ISPS who can tend to spread themselves thin trying to provide services to both consumer and business, both of which have different expectations and requirements.
altoHiway has had consistent year-on-year growth and todays announcement confirms that this is an Internet provider here to stay and one that will continue to remain solely dedicated to the UK business market.
New Datacentre To Quadruple Capacity
The investment has also enabled altoHiway to design a new datacentre that will be four times the size of its existing facility, which is currently located at the companys headquarters in Newbury, Berkshire. The new fully-managed datacentre with separate multiple feeds and high-speed resilient connects between the existing facilities will provide extra capacity allowing existing customers to replicate servers across multiple locations in the UK providing true Disaster Recovery Solutions at competitive costs. High bandwidth connections will allow synchronisation of data across systems to ensure maximum resilience against failure.
The new datacentre also provides altoHiway with the additional capacity required for expansion, with staffing levels forecast to grow in excess of 10% by the end of this financial year.
Richard concludes: With the advent of high bandwidth end-user connectivity via mediums such as ADSL and SDSL, there are many more options and opportunities available for todays businesses. The customer is fast looking at increased, secure communications between sites with remote workers becoming far more commonplace. Therefore the investment in our network and new datacentre is very timely. This tier one investment in network operation alongside our market anticipation and response takes altoHiway to a distinctive level of Business Service Provision.
