Eclipse Launch 1Mbps ADSL Trial

ISP Eclipse Internet has today joined several other providers by announcing the launch of its residential ADSL Connect 1000 Lite (1Mbps) trial for £32.30 per month (ex VAT):

The fastest ISP just got faster:
Eclipse trials new 1Mb ADSL Service

Eclipse Internet, winner of the ISPA’s best business broadband provider award today launches its trial of a new 1Mb ADSL service for just £32.30 per month (exc. VAT), allowing people to double their connection speed without doubling the cost.

Eclipse Internet received a huge volume of registrations of interest in the new services and is delighted to be able to satisfy the demand by broadening its product portfolio and offering faster connection speeds at more affordable prices. Jomie Carmichael, co-founder and director of Eclipse said: “Eclipse Internet always endeavours to deliver high quality internet connectivity at competitive prices. We deliberately waited to launch our 1Mb service in order to ensure we could offer a competitive rate. We believe that £32.30 per month (exc. VAT) is a commercially robust price that Eclipse can sustain whilst still maintaining our renowned levels of quality and service.”

The 1Mb service (named ADSL Connect 1000 Lite) will be popular with the residential market, especially gamers and families with multiple Internet users. However, it is also expected that the new services will also present far reaching benefits for small to medium sized businesses who want to take advantage of the higher bandwidth. Because Eclipse does not differentiate between home and business services, smaller businesses can install the entry level options on their networks in order to test the benefits before investing larger sums of money.

The trial service will be based on the existing ADSL 500 Lite offering from Eclipse with the same 50:1 contention ratio* but with download speeds of 1Mb. From October 13th it will also be possible to seamlessly upgrade from Eclipse Internet’s ADSL 500 Lite to the new product.

The trial does not have a limit on the number taking part so anyone is eligible to join. However, distance limitations apply and customers currently using a Rate Adaptive ADSL service, who are further from the exchange, will not be able to receive the 1Mb service.

* The contention ratio indicates the maximum number of users that may be sharing the line. Business users requiring consistent access speeds over a network are recommended to choose a lower contended product

Connect 1000 Lite service:
• Download 1Mb, Upload 256 Kbps
• 50:1 contention ration*
• Up to 10 POP 3 mailboxes with unlimited email addresses
• Monthly contract
• Smooth upgrade process with minimal downtime (1/2 hour)
• No port blocking
• No bandwidth restriction
• Use of SMTP outgoing mail servers
• Choice of dynamic or fixed IP addresses
• Use of Webmail facility
• 20 Mb Webspace
