Telewest has today announced the launch of a wireless self-installation pack for its broadband blueyonder Internet service:

Telewest Broadband today launches a wireless self-installation pack for its high-speed blueyonder internet services, at half the price of BT Broadband's standard self-install costs.
The new wireless pack costs just £35, made possible by combining a pre-configured Netgear access point with the cable modem already embedded in the company's digital TV set-top box. Customers can enjoy the freedom of high-speed net access anywhere in their home without trailing, restrictive wires.
Eighty per cent of Telewest Broadband's digital TV customers have their set-top box and PC in different rooms and fixed wire connections are not always convenient. Instead, the wireless pack can provide a 512kbp/s or 1Mbp/s internet connection anywhere within the household.* Customers with a laptop can also enjoy roaming broadband access around the house or in the garden.
Chad Raube, director of internet services at Telewest Broadband, said: "No other British ISP offers a wireless broadband installation and we can now provide one at a price that puts most of our competitor's standard self-installation packs to shame.
We already offer a choice of access speeds with our blueyonder services and now you can choose from a comprehensive range of installation options too. Those customers who choose a wire-free connection can look forward to even more freedom online and an end to unsightly wires."
The wireless option means Telewest Broadband's digital TV customers who want a blueyonder broadband connection can now choose from a technician visit costing £50, a standard (wired) self-installation pack for £12.50, or the flexibility of wireless.
The pack has been successfully trialled by 1,000 blueyonder customers, generating positive feedback on the hassle-free installation experience and the aesthetic benefits of a wireless connection.
Telewest Broadband's digital TV customers can order the wireless self-install pack by calling 0800 953 5000. The range of blueyonder broadband services are available from £25 per month and at speeds of 512kbp/s, 1Mbp/s and 2Mbp/s.
