ISPA Shortlisted For Contribution Award

The UK Internet Services Providers Association (ISPA) has been short listed as a potential front runner to win the 'Outstanding Contribution to UK Technology Award':

The UKs leading internet trade association the Internet Services Providers Association (ISPA UK) is more used to giving awards than being shortlisted for them. Small wonder as ISPA organises The UK Internet Industry Awards, now fondly known as The ISPAs.
But thanks to readers of both ZDNet UK and silicon.com and the judges of the CNET Awards, ISPA has been shortlisted for the Outstanding Contribution to UK Technology Award. The award recognises the achievements of the individuals who have done the most to advance adoption, ease use, demonstrate thought-leadership, influence policy or simply inspire others in the UK IT industry.
ISPA reached the shortlist for applying pressure on the government to sort out the mess thrown up by the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act, the electronic snooping provisions in the Anti Terrorism Act, and the Human Rights Act.
ISPA faces stiff competition. The shortlisted nominees include the Access to Broadband Campaign (ABC), The All-Party Parliamentary Internet Group (APIG) and Elizabeth France of the Office of the Telecommunications Ombudsman (Otelo). Both APIG and Ms. France were nominees for the Internet Hero award at The 2003 ISPAs and Ms France was awarded the Internet Hero award at The 2002 ISPAs.
Jessica Hendrie-Liaño, Chair of ISPA Council said, ISPA is very lucky that it is served by a hardworking and dedicated Council and Secretariat, but ISPA is still the bottom-up organization it always has been. The work of the ISPA sub-groups, the contributions received from its members both small and large and the good turn-out at our events make ISPA the UKs leading internet trade association.
