BT Wholesale has confirmed that the official launch date for its 1Mbps (Home 1000) broadband ADSL service will be 20th November. It also confirmed that this is the same date its regrade service will come out of trial:
BT TO LAUNCH FASTER WHOLESALE BROADBAND SERVICE
BT today confirmed that it is to launch a new, faster ADSL broadband service to its wholesale customers from November 20. The new service - BT IPStream Home 1000 - will meet the needs of residential consumers wanting greater bandwidth than the standard 512kbt/s available at present.
The wholesale connection charge for this self-install product will be £50, and the monthly wholesale rental will be £23; for existing customers upgrading from BT IPStream Home 500 products there will be a regrade charge of £35 in place of the connection charge.
Bruce Stanford, director of products, BT Wholesale Markets, said: "We began trials of the new, faster 1Mbit/s service on October 6, and it became immediately apparent that there is strong consumer demand for it. We've had more than 4,000 orders in less than three weeks from more than 50 ISPs, which is well ahead of expectations and has helped us move swiftly to a full launch."
