I have a critical decision on whether to buy a house in an area with no cable.

Thinking Satellite would be a good option I called BeyonDSL for some info. Poor service but did eventually get answered.

On asking how to check availability for the new house a survey was suggested and I paid £75 for this to be done.

A man in a scruffy van turned up with no prior phone call which was promised which meant I had to drop everything and go to meet him.

He looked at the site and said yep that will be fine although he seemed to say the satellite was the same as SKY TV which was not what I was told by the telephone operator. He wasn't able (or unwilling) to do any signal strength test. So for our £75 I got an obtrusive call to state what I could see for myself with a compass.

I've since struggled to get hold of this company as they do not answer the telephone and after so long holding I was cut off.

I haven't yet given up hope of buying the property but I have of using BeyonDSL when they can't be trusted at this stage of the process. Some of the other poor experiences sound more likely to happen than not.

My ratings below are based on expectation rather than service usage as I was not able to leave these blank.

Been with them for two years and I am waiting for line upgrades in my area so that I can switch to a line broadband service.

Plus point
Can receive sat tv and broadband through 1 dish

Negative Points
Expensive
Slow
Poor customer service
Poor technical help
Poor account status and information page

If 0 was available that would be the score I would use across the board!

Title: Beyondsl
I am connected to their 10mb service and have been very disappointed with the speed I have. A typical hotmail page can take 20 seconds to download and I get so frustrated that I keep switching back to the 1mb landline Internet that I have kept open.

I have a sonos system which cannot be used on the beyondsl system as it keeps stopping.

Surfing the net is soooo slow, with the only benefit being the ability to download software updates quicker.
