I moved from BT to Aquiss on 29 June after contacting them with 11 technical questions about latency, routing, using my own router, static IP and support. I sent them in the evening and Martin replied the next morning, answering every point clearly and honestly. There was no sales talk—just a technical explanation of what Aquiss could and could not offer.
I waited two months before switching. Nothing changed physically: the same Openreach line, ONT and home network. The only change was the ISP, yet the difference has been night and day.
With BT I had recurring latency and responsiveness problems. Their answer was usually that the speed test looked fine, and because I used my own router I was repeatedly asked to reconnect the BT Hub before they would investigate.
Aquiss allows me to use my own equipment without treating it as an excuse to dismiss an issue. The connection is stable, latency remains low and it stays responsive even under heavy download and upload load. Waveform and LibreQoS bufferbloat tests now consistently return A or A+, with around 4–5 ms baseline latency and almost no added delay on upload.
As an FPS gamer, this matters far more than headline speed. I now lose matches because of my lack of skill, not because of the connection—and I have finally accepted that painful truth.
The line did not change. The way it is managed and supported did.
