The good: my Hey!Broadband service was close to the expected speeds and the monthly cost was pretty cheap, although this was mainly as I got a good deal as part of a Black Friday promotion.
The bad: the service is distinctly "meh". H!BB's main connectivity partner is a Spanish ISP called NEAR IP with a limited presence in the UK. This means that connections can take strange routes -- e.g. I had traffic going to London routed via Spain, or to France routed via Germany. They offer CGNAT IPv4 by default (with an option for a public static IPv4 address for £5pm) with no IPv6.
I found the process for terminating at the end of my contract needlessly convoluted. Firstly they insisted on following up my cancellation with a retention phone call, and advised that they would only accept my cancellation following the phone call. Then they wanted me to return my router (fine) and ONT (a bit weird) at my cost, and were needlessly difficult when I asked about how much I should insure the package for. They really should provide a prepaid returns label as most ISPs do.
I hope they fix their connectivity issues (Spanish routing and lack of IPv6) so I can consider returning in the future.
