Huawei Touts New 21Mbps Mobile Broadband USB Modem

Posted: 05th Mar, 2009 By: MarkJ
China-based Huawei Technologies has unveiled the final design for its newest E182E Mobile Broadband USB Modem (Dongle) at CeBIT in Germany, which was originally previewed last December. The modem is one of the first to support HSPA+ technology, which offers theoretical maximum speeds of up to 21.6Mbps download and 5.76Mbps upload:

The cap-free device also features a retractable USB connector, which means it's less likely to obstruct your other USB ports when plugged in. It can also have a peak storage capacity of 32GB. Expect some UK mobile operators to start deploying it during the spring.

Naturally nobody will actually be able to receive anything even remotely close to the promised maximum speeds of HSPA+, but we’re sure it’ll make for good marketing material.
