The
i3 Group (H2O Networks) has today announced its first Fibrezone for South Ayrshire, which is a (dark) fibre optic broadband cable ring deployed around a business sector, campus, town or city to which businesses and organisations can connect to an ISP at speeds of up to 100Mbps.
i3 only has to lay short fibre optic links to reach the fibre ring in order for customers to benefit from its "
unlimited" super fast connectivity. This model significantly lowers the cost of building bespoke fibre optic networks for H2O’s customers.
Roy Shelton, commercial director at H2O Networks said: "The Fibrezone in South Ayrshire is the first of 10 that will be built across the UK over the next 12 months. We are developing a national infrastructure that provides low cost unlimited bandwidth to businesses and organisations. i3 Group has developed a range of different solutions for the UK and its international partners to benefit from super fast connectivity delivered by fibre optic networks.
Work has started on two [BOURNEMOUTH and DUNDEE] of the first 10 town and city wide Fibrecities which will provide connectivity speeds of up to 100Mbps and will be the UK’s largest fibre to the home installations servicing over one million homes. Fibrezone will also be a catalyst for future Fibrecities across the UK."
i3 Group's unique system utilises the waste water (underground sewage) network. This allows them to avoid expensive road digs, which not only reduces costs but also limits disruption to the environment and traffic flows in the local area.
