Hewlett-Packard (HP) has signed a strategic partnership with
The Cloud, a broadband wireless Hotspot operator, to offer free Wi-Fi Internet access to new small and medium business customers for one year. Typically you'll need to buy one of HP's B- or P-Range commercial notebooks or Mobile Workstations to take advantage of the promotion.
“We know through talking to our customers that anywhere, anytime connectivity is high-up on the business agenda in order to help maximise productivity, however connectivity comes at an added cost,” said David Wright, Vice President and General Manager, HP Personal Systems Group UK and Ireland. “This innovative proposition demonstrates HP’s commitment to our SMB customers by giving them access to the largest network of WiFi hotspots in the UK absolutely free of charge.”
The Cloud currently supports over 2 million connections per month across more than 22,000 access points in 12 European markets, including the UK, Germany, the Nordic region. Locations in the UK include McDonalds, Pret a Manger, Network Rail and various mainline rail stations, BAA airports and various regional airports, the outdoor City of London and Canary Wharf WiFi networks.
According to Niall Murphy, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer at The Cloud, “Broadband wireless connectivity is an essential part of everyday living. We are very pleased to be working with HP on this innovative programme to ensure HP’s notebooks and Mobile Workstations are able to provide simple, fast and automatic access to the web. The Cloud’s vision is an integrated experience of always online connectivity. The partnership with HP enables this through high speed access to The Cloud’s network as well as the ability to access a customer’s personal list of WiFi networks.”
