Broadband.co.uk has released its latest anecdotal monthly broadband speed testing results for August 2009. It shows that the average UK broadband download speed for the largest 10 ISPs has increased by a tiny amount from 4.262Mbps in July to 4.331Mbps in August.
Virgin Media retains its crown as the fastest broadband ISP for downloads, significantly extending its lead from 6.732Mbps in July to 7.243Mbps in August. Meanwhile second place holder O2 ( Be Broadband ) managed to claw back from a low of 5.308Mbps in July to 5.665Mbps in August.

8. Eclipse Internet – 2.681Mbps
9. Orange – 2.676Mbps
10. AOL – 2.258Mbps

Once again O2 ( Be Broadband ) remains the fastest UK ISP for upload performance on a stable result of 0.754Mbps, which so far no other provider has even come close to beating. The average upload speed also stayed fairly static over the month at 0.423Mbps.
