Broadband.co.uk has released its latest anecdotal monthly broadband speed testing results for September 2009. It shows that the average UK broadband download speed for the largest ten ISPs has once again increased by a tiny amount from 4.331Mbps in August to 4.361Mbps now.
Cable giant Virgin Media has also retained its position as the fastest broadband ISP for downloads and managed to hold a strong average speed of 7.238Mbps. Meanwhile 2nd place holder O2 ( Be Broadband ) fell back slightly from 5.665Mbps in August to 5.535Mbps now.

2. O2 ( Be Broadband ) – 5.535Mbps
3. TalkTalk – 3.402Mbps
4. Sky Broadband – 3.397Mbps
5. Orange – 3.143Mbps
6. Eclipse Internet – 3.088Mbps
7. BT – 3.001Mbps
8. Tiscali – 2.872Mbps
9. PlusNet – 2.722Mbps
10. AOL – 2.125Mbps

1. O2 ( Be Broadband ) - 0.738Mbps
2. Virgin Media - 0.513Mbps
3. TalkTalk - 0.461Mbps
4. Sky Broadband - 0.439Mbps
5. Orange - 0.384Mbps
6. Eclipse Internet - 0.383Mbps
7. BT - 0.358Mbps
8. Tiscali - 0.345Mbps

Once again O2 ( Be Broadband ) remains the fastest UK ISP for upload performance on a reasonably stable result of 0.738Mbps and AOL UK is yet again bottom in both charts. The average upload speed also stayed fairly static over the month, increasing to 0.441Mbps (0.423Mbps in August).
