BSkyB ( Sky Broadband ) has released its latest set of quarterly results to 30th September 2009. The group’s broadband service saw another decline in quarterly uptake by adding +100,000 new customers, which compares with +164,000 for the same time last year. Some 17% of Sky's customers now choose the operator for all three of TV, broadband and telephony.
Sky Broadband Results
We are making good progress on improving the returns on our investment in broadband and telephony. Higher penetration of telephony products, combined with a continued focus on cost efficiency, saw operating losses for the quarter almost halve year on year - to £19 million. This was despite the costs associated with migrating existing customers from partial to full unbundling. At 30 September we had enabled over 70% of our exchanges and had more than 150,000 fully unbundled customers.
This growth has helped to take their total broadband base from 2,203,000 in Q2 to 2,303,000 now. The average revenue per user for Sky's services currently works out at £39.08 per month.
