Broadband ISP
ADSL24 UK has launched a bonded 48Mbps downstream (5Mbps upstream) service based off unbundled ( LLU ) ADSL2+ technology, which links two 'up to' 24Mbps capable telephone lines together to double the speed (12 month contract term).
Typically such a service is not cheap and costs £149 +vat per month, which does not include the cost of renting two telephone lines. In addition the special Comtrend 5631 router costs an extra £120 and you'll need to pay a £250 setup charge.
James Wood, ADSL24's Manager, said:
“There are a number of home workers and businesses that are heavily dependent on their Internet connection. ADSL24’s new Bonded Broadband service offers unrivalled performance, extra resilience and greater flexibility. At a fraction of the cost of a leased line and cheaper than a standard 2Mb SDSL line, the service allows customers to improve their connectivity requirements without the high upfront and ongoing costs a leased line would bring.
Our aim is to plug the huge divide between a standard ADSL service and a leased line – and that’s going to help a lot of home workers and businesses who require an improvement to their current service but can’t justify the cost of a leased line.”
The package includes unlimited usage, 4 Static IPs, no blocking of ports or protocols, 24x7 monitoring with email alerts and online bandwidth usage tracking. It is best designed for extreme consumer usage or business applications. It's worth pointing out that a 2Mbps SDSL service would cost upwards of £200 per month, not to mention several hundred pounds in setup and hardware costs.
