Mobile operator Three (3) has cut the price of its entry level Mobile Broadband package, which includes a 1GB monthly usage allowance, from £10 to just £7.50 per month on either an 18 or 24 month contract option; both include a FREE USB Modem (Dongle). Those wanting the 1GB package with a MiFi (portable Wi-Fi wireless 3G router) device will also now pay just £9.50 per month.
We suspect that Three (3) has been able to afford the lower price of its monthly entry level package thanks, in part, to their new Traffic Management measures. These were brought in to help stem the growing tide of P2P usage on its network and free up extra capacity.
However it remains very difficult for any mobile operator to further reduce the price of Mobile Broadband services while growing data usage is starting to outstrip any revenue they get back.
