Broadband provider TalkTalk ( AOL , Tiscali etc.) has announced a number of new service and price changes that will take effect on or after 1st January 2010. Firstly the price of their
Essentials phone and broadband package will rise from £17.74 to £18.48 per month, which is mostly due to the return of a higher 17.5% rate of VAT. There will also be a speed increase for all customers.

Over the next few months, we'll be increasing the maximum broadband speed across our network to a superfast 24Meg. Also from January, the price of our Essentials phone and broadband package will change to £6.99 a month, including the new VAT rate. The price of our newest phone and broadband package: TalkTalk Pro, will remain unchanged on 1st January 2010, at £14.99.
Presently customers of TalkTalk's
Essentials package have to pay an extra +£4 per month to receive the speed boost from their standard 'up to' speed of 8Mbps to 24Mbps.
